SÃO PAULO – May 26, 2022 – IFF will showcase its range of enzyme solutions at the largest professional brewing event in Brazil, Brasil Brau 2022, from May 30-June 1 at the São Paulo Expo. Visitors will learn about how enzymes can enhance sustainability in beer production and can explore how to push the envelope by innovating in areas of untapped opportunity in the Brazilian brewing industry.

IFF’s Rodrigo Sanches da Silva, a master brewer at the Berlin Institute for Brewing Research and Education, will delve into how enzymes can reduce the environment impact of brewing on June 1 at 11.45 a.m.

“We will address how industries can use enzymatic solutions to produce beers with lower environmental impact while reducing costs, but without losing quality properties of the beverages”, said Sanches da Silva, senior brewery application specialist, Health & Biosciences, IFF.

According to the survey commissioned to Euromonitor by SINDICERV (Sindicato Nacional da Indústria da Cerveja), beer sales in Brazil have increased since 2019. In 2021, overall consumption increased 7.7 percent, totaling 14.3 billion liters. “Consumption has been increasing amidst unprecedented market diversification”, says Gonzalo Quesada, regional sales director for Food Enzymes, Latin America, IFF. “Those who appreciate beer are more informed, discerning and eager for new experiences. Our role is to enable the industries to satisfy and surprise their audiences. Our broad portfolio, deep technical expertise, and commitment to combining science and creativity can help further strengthen the industry”, says Gonzalo Quesada.

Euromonitor research shows that non-alcoholic beer is projected to grow in popularity in Brazil,” said Fábio Bax Junior, Principal Designer, IFF. “Beer with reduced alcohol content, already a success in other countries, is an opportunity within the reach of national brands.”

Bax Junior will present the lecture “Zero Alcohol Drinks (No & Low Alcohol): better understanding the global trend and new concepts for breweries,” at the Brewer Lounge on May 30 at 4 pm. He will share market data and trends about this category on the rise in the Brazilian market.
