Please do not miss the opportunity to be in the audience to hear Dr. Johanna Maukonen, Global Health and Nutrition Science Leader, DuPont Nutrition & Health presentation at 14.05 on Wednesday 13 February entitled: Optimizing nutrition for early life development – from prenatal to toddler.
Diet and lifestyle are key to a healthy pregnancy and good maternal nutrition has a profound influence on the development of the gut microbiota and immune system during fetal and postnatal periods. Keeping mothers healthy during pregnancy is vital to the development of offspring. Microbial colonisation of the infant’s digestive tract begins at birth, when the mother becomes the primary source of bacterial species. Disruption of the development of the infant’s microbiota and immunity of the infant at this stage has been linked to subsequent allergies and eczema. A number of important studies and human clinical trials, have shown that both pregnant women and their infants can benefit from probiotic supplementation during pregnancy and beyond.
As part of the Scientific Frontiers session from 16.20 on February 14, Dr. Arthur Ouwehand, Technical Fellow and Research Manager, Global Health & Nutrition Sciences, DuPont Nutrition & Health will present ‘Mechanisms of probiotic action; driving the development for reliable health benefits for probiotics’.
In addition, Ratna Mukherjea, Global R&D Leader and Technical Fellow, DuPont Nutrition & Health will host a roundtable at 13.00 on February 14.
Probiota is a great opportunity to meet our experts and we hope to see you there.
